The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Instead of launching Hulu outside the US, they have launched Star worldwide (but not all countries). In Asia, Europe and Canada it’s part of Disney+, and not an extra app. It doesn’t have all of Hulu, but anything that is owned by Disney companies.

I don't really like it. I have the plan that means I still have to watch commercials if I watch a tv show. And they tend to play the same commercials over and over again. And if I'm watching a movie, they don't play commercials in the middle but every ten minutes or so when there would be a commercial break, the screen blacks out for a couple seconds. It's distracting. The app also tends to flip out if I try to do anything, even simple things like pause or rewind. And I don't find the available offerings to be especially impressive. I only have Hulu because it is free with my Spotify. Otherwise, I'd drop it. I don't use it much

Oh yeah, i signed up for the commercials once and immediately cancelled.
I got a free preview later with my Roku. COVID started right in the middle of my trial, so I didn't cancel. It's got a ton of good stuff, but fuck them if I have to watch commercials.
The price point between commercials and commercial-free is definitely the difference between "complete shit" and "better than Netflix and Amazon."

What do you watch on Hulu? Star doesn’t seem too great at the moment. Some famous movies like the Die Hard franchise, Deadpool movies, Logan, series like Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1, Lost.

They’ve had their own programs we’ve watched, but the main things are network shows that are still airing new episodes. They do have the older shows too, such as Justified and Freaks & Geeks. Overall, we watch Hulu just as much or more than Netflix.

I spend much more time watching Hulu than Netflix.
So do we. It’s how we keep up will still-airing shows. Except for CBS.
The Hulu app is terrible. The interface is bad and extremely non-user friendly. I haven't experienced the movie issues that Argo describes but otherwise, it's really a mess.
And yet still, I use it all the time. I like Neflix's interface better but Hulu still serves its purpose (and has more content that I'm interested in; as you say, it's how I watch still-airing shows) and I like having it. One of these days I'll upgrade to the non-commercial version.
Devs - HBO here The Gifted - Disney+ Star here The Venture Bros. - can’t find it here Preacher - Viaplay here Cutthroat Kitchen - Discovery+ here Teen Titans Go! - HBO here Pen15 - can’t find it here Seinfeld - Viaplay here Futurama - Disney+ Star here Malcolm in the Middle - was on tv2 here (not streaming now) Archer - Netflix here Handmaids Tale - HBO here Justified - Prime here Freaks and Geaks - Prime here
Ok, currently very different from Disney+ Star here.

We sprang for that years ago. Netflix spoiled us on it. It kills me to watch something that has commercials in it now.

i really don't mind the commercials...if they were as long as normal tv commercials i probably would, but it seems like a 22 minute show only has around 3 minutes of commercials total

Nice!
Technically we use the sister in laws account. So we aren't paying anything for it which is why we haven't upgraded.
