Shower light went out, which is fine except it's apparently one of those LED jigs which are supposed to last a decade so...hoping it's not a wiring issue. |

Chickens are a go. They seem to prefer digging in the dirt to trays full of food. Is this the norm, or are we seeing the negative impact of too much selective breeding for traits unrelated to egg production and basic survival? If they make it that long, the egg colors should be fun. |

If they make it that long, the egg colors should be fun. They are foraging for bugs and worms. Have you built Joel Saladin houses for them? Look into it, it's the standard setup for pasture-raised. |

We do have a mobile coop/ run. Unfortunately, the entire yard is hard clay except for some grass. Maybe when the pullets are bigger we will move them around the grass area. Seems like resting the run on grass will make it easier for predators or pests to get in. They seem to have figured out the whole feed situation, and are eating more from that than foraging. They didn't care much for the milled crumble, but the whole grain stuff is just fine. I presume the house you refer to is one that is mobile? |

Yeah, but it depends on the size. I worked on a farm with multiple houses, each for 30 hens; there were chains on the frame and we’d move it daily with a pickup truck (a Honda Accord would do just fine though). But I think that smaller houses can be moved by hand. |

The chickens like digging in some potting soil we threw down, not sure how they'll do with the clay. For wood ash baths, what sort of container or setup do you suggest? |

Our vents make a banging sound every time the furnace kicks on. Doesn't seem to point to anything serious, but it's annoying at 3 AM. |

Don't think that's part of a normal inspection Windows are definitely part of a normal inspection. And FWIW, our inspector missed a big hot water heater issue that cost us almost $600 one week after moving in. I sent him a note and he offered to refund his fee. I passed on his offer, but hey, you never know... |
