Looking at buying a snow blower. The price range is huge. Any advice? I'd be looking to blow out our two-car driveway and walkway, and potentially be a good egg and tackle our whole block's sidewalk.

I don't have experience in snow blowing, but I generally try to live by the mantra "buy it right, buy it once." I didn't heed that advice when I bought a $100 Ryobi leaf blower/trimmer set and now I'll probably have to upgrade both items again within the next year because they just aren't cutting it. Pay the extra money for some power and durability, trag.

I live by that mantra too, but I'm not sure the $3400 model counts as "buying it right." There's gotta be a happy medium between that and the $150 model.

I bought a Husqvarna in the $900 range the other day. It looks sturdy enough to stand up to northern WI winters. My friend told me it's more than I need, but we'll see.

I think ST-224 is the model #.

You're an entrepreneur. Think like one.

I assume it snows a lot in Bozeman. If you went into a side hustle with that thing, at $25 a sidewalk blowie, you could probably pay for that $3400 equipment in one season (depending on how big your block is.)

Hell, charge $25 a session with that $900 machine and you could make a hefty profit.

How big is the driveway? You don't have to go nuts, you just have to take care of it. A Toro SnowMaster 824 is under $800. For a homeowner, it should be plenty. I would totally recommend a snow cab for whatever you get. Over here, the wind is usually howling while I blow. Getting pelted with that shit sucks.

I'll shovel until it gets stupid. I'm not shoveling a foot of what feels like cement. I did my time.

This reminds me of the time ruddo shamed me for wanting to buy a self propelled mower.

Shoveling is brutal on my back so I'll use the snowblower for even just a few inches of snow.

Holy shit, those were a monstrosity. It was a baseball bat with a handle and gigantic metal shovel. It was bigger than me. Big old bolts holding it together like Frankenstein's neck. These kids with their plastic.

Whiskey.

I bought a two-handed, double-wide shovel the same day I bought the blower. Works so well, when we got 7" the other night I ended up just shoveling it rather than dealing with the blower.
