Tom Cruise worked with the best directors in modern cinema. They all agreed he is wonderful and a star.
CASE CLOSED.
And? Donald Trump said neo Nazi racists are fine people.
Should I believe them to?
I’ll believe my own eyes and make up my own mind thanks.
yeah, i was talking about film craft. If the best guys in modern cinema agreed with that notion...yeah, they might be into something. You can not agree with them, but call him the worst its far fetched.
Maybe you want to discuss this with Kubrick, Scorsese, Spielberg, Coppola..and JJ ABRAMS DIMEE YOUR JJ ABRAMSSSS
As if they’d publicly say anything to the contrary You’ll never publicly see anyone in the industry being honest never mind critical of another actor or director or anyone involved.
That’s how it works. You don’t shit on your own bed.
Sad you don’t see that.
So people like Kubrick or Coppola, who dont give a shit about the industry are playing game with tom because...they need more work? Even when he was starting? Thats your theory?

VG you don’t complain about your former employer in your interview for your next job. That’s basic our level stuff.
Ramp that up to the celebrity sphere and our outrage tabloid culture and apply it to actors and Hollywood in general.
This isnt that hard to grasp.
All directors hate actors. Especially famous ones. They’re divas with a bloated sense of their own self importance and the ‘celebrity’ system and aspect makes it like that.
Actors hate directors cos they think they’re superior to them.
Then They go on the press junkets and eat shit and play nice.

so basically Cruise career is based on a great PR. All these years. It doesnt matter who was making the movie.
Wow.
Well no. Star power. Brad Pitt tom cruise Morgan freeman and countless others. You’re not hiring their scting ability. You’re hiring their ‘star power’.
I think this disagreement continues to come down to personal definitions. To me, "being a star" isn't the same as "being an actor." They can overlap, obviously. All squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares.
Charisma isn't craft.
While I do think The Rock has all the charisma in the world, and I dig a lot of the stuff he's in, he's not a very good actor. Then there are people out there like Audra McDonald who are on a completely different level when it comes to craft. She's probably the greatest actor working today. But she's not a star. And when she's been on camera in the past, she hasn't sparkled the way that The Rock does.
They're just different things.

Like it's beyond bizarre to me that anyone would think Jason Statham is a great actor and Ryan Reynolds is a terrible actor. They are literally in the same tier as far as craft and talent are concerned. They each do the thing they do really well. Maybe you like one of those things and dislike the other -- that makes total sense. But neither of them are especially good actors. They're both middling.
