I'm not even talking about the acting. It's the lighting and camera work. Mute a scene in Daniel's house and you'll think you're watching The Young and the Restless.

Probably to cut costs. They used to film some of the car dealership stuff in an actual building that looked like a dealership. Now they have a few offices for stand ins

I'm honestly still trying to figure out what belt these kids are meant to be - one scene they're all white belts, then a few scenes later they've got black belts and back again etc...

You’re concerning yourself with realism here, mate? It’s an absurd show about karate. Karate! Let go, let God, my man.

I enjoy this show, but some real guffaws in the first episode.
Daniel is worried that Cobra Kai is going to corrupt every kid in LA. Of the millions of teenagers in LA, how many do you think are super into karate?
At one point they were parked outside Cobra Kai, and Daniel says, "Look at that line. You'd think they're giving away Teslas." I made my kid go back so I could see the line. There were 15 kids lined up at Cobra Kai. The unbelievable line for free Teslas was 15 people.

They always joke about how absurd the whole karate obsession is.
There is a great joke this season about then plotting something in their car bussiness and some guy asking them if anyone works there at all
Haha that was great. I love that Amanda gets in one bar scuffle back home, and now she’s all in. She’s clearly as crazy as Daniel.
Obviously. Had it been mentioned before that episode that she’s the cousin of that girl from the movie?
I dunno, probably a retcon.
I was thinking about how sad it was that all those middle aged women were still all cliqueish and hanging out at the bar like a gang of divorcees/low-grade MILFs as tho they were all still in high school.
