Trailer is really strange. Especially given is mostly all live footage and interviews(but not too many). Really wanted to hate it cos it doesn't tell their history in any way. But as a snap shot of how they work and where they are, it's incredible. Me and a lot of other people singing along in the cinema:)

It's definitely geared more towards those people than it is any long time fan. But both can enjoy it. Sounds better than a few gigs of theirs I've been to haha. They sound huge. Weirdly a lot of the interview footage sounds terrible but it's just by comparison I think. Gonna see t again tonight I think.

The frames movie, in the deep shade, is out this week and available for preorder for about $13. Credit card and paypal both accepted. It's my favourite rock doco ever. On preorder here, avaikable friday. http://2010.theframes.ie/

Got this yesterday. It's kick ass. Wish there was a second disc of the live footage. He caught them perfectly. Never would have thought that possible. Almost like being in the room.
If this film is directed more towards casual / fair-weather fans than long-term / geeky ones, what makes it better than PJ20 (since that was its fatal flaw)?

Good question. The fans(and mine and certain band members) problem was that it wasn't a chronological A-Z. And I railed against that cos these lads have had such a weird story involving things like Bob Dylan just turning up at a rehearsal one day and giving them a support slot the next night(and many others)to Neil young inviting them to do the same. They've had a wild coloured ride.
Instead the director chose just to take a snapshot of where they are now(at the time Doing a tour to celebrate 20 years together) and that rubbed us all up the wrong way, but when we saw it, all was forgiven. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't come with a complete gig disc. There's a good bit of the lads talking about their process and telepathy onstage and in the studio. It's far more in depth about the processes involved when it comes to making music and playing music. Something I think it's ok to say we have always wanted from pj.
This is for long term fans but casual and newbies would get so much from it.
The consensus so far has been complete 'oh I can't wait to see this band live again' to 'I can't wait to see this band live'. I wanted to hate this but I can't. It's rockin. And the live sound is amazing. Might be some more cinema showings in the UK soon, I'll let you know.
