I'd heard nothing but good things from some people I trust and thus went to see it yesterday. Turned out to be typical Bay, unfortunately. Some impressive technical stuff but the whole thing is incredibly dumb. Bay still makes movies as if he were a 15-year old on a nonstop sugar high.
Over the past couple years I've come across a lot of stuff about how Bay is a true auteur. And he is. The things he does well he does incredibly. So somehow I ended up going to see this opening night and was reminded... His strengths do not align with my tastes.

Yeah time (and the comparative drabness of Marvel movies) have really sort of redeemed Bay in a lot of people's eyes. Still not for me but I liked Pain and Gain

The editing was too fast. A shot would be over and then I would realize that it was cool and wish it had lasted more than twenty frames. Like even four seconds would've been good. I'm thinking specifically of some like drone or helicopter shots that were like twisty and weird but over way too fast.
Gyllenhaal being a mad man was cool for a while.
In an AV Club interview with Garret Dillahunt, he said "Almost everything you heard was a line that was thought of or altered, like, Let’s sit down here on the curb and write a new one." That makes perfect sense to me. I don't know that I've ever seen a movie with more bad ADR. Every minute or so was a line that sounded like it was recorded months later and then shoehorned in to try to make sense of the movie. It was barely above nonsensical as it is.
