Why do y'all think Myrcella lies about the nature of her injuries and protects the Martells at the end of ADWD? Is it just because she's BFFs with Arianne? It's something that's always stuck out to me.
She realized how fucking crazy her mom is.
How? She hasn't been in touch with her mom since before the Blackwater.

I was just joking. I'm almost to that chapter in my re-read.

You need to be posting more about your reread.
I know...I have a few thoughts to share sometime this weekend.

I always thought it was more along the lines of them convincing her that's the way it actually went down as opposed to getting her to knowingly lie for them. But I've only read it once and most of the details are pretty foggy.

Why is jaimie still called the king slayer when that targaryen was a cunt. Surely he should be seen as a hero no? I've read all these books n don't remember

an oathbreaker is still an oathbreaker. he was basically given a stay of execution because he was the mad king.
No doubt Jamie did the right thing, as he has done most of the time. Pushing Bran was clearly a terrible thing to do, no excuse. From his point of view, if Bran told everyone about Jamie and his sister, it could mean them being executed, the Lannister family possibly being destroyed, their kids probably murdered when found out that they weren't the true children of the king. He had a split second to react, and went for the worst possible solution. He'll never be a typical hero, but he gets far more criticism for the things he has done (both in and out of the books), than other central characters get, for what they have done.

I've been listening to this reread podcast and an audiobook of the first book and I think I can safely say that Daenerys is my favorite storyline in A Game of Thrones.

And then it just gets worse with each subsequent book.

Well yeah it's best in the first book, but I wouldn't say it gets bad.

I connected with her story more in my second read through, but hers was never a favorite. The Jon, Araya, Jamie, and Tyrion stories were the ones that really drew me in. Sansa did get much better on subsequent reads. Knowing where she is going really reframes your early experiences with her
