Just finished. Really good filling out the backstory of the Tagaryens or at least some of it.
Very much going for Tolkien in the Silmarillion, lots of treachery and kin slaying etc.

But excellent if you want to know what these people were like when they had dragons available to them.

Lots of cool stuff in that one too. But that one, remember, is supposed to be a text that exists inside the world that Martin created. It's written by a Maester and dedicated to the reign of Robert Baratheon so it's biased. Also, a lot of stuff from the generation before Robert's Rebellion is omitted so as not to spoil stuff important to ASOIAF.

Yeah I loved that it was written from a maseters POV retelling it. I just the the opening few chapters up to the Valeryians and Tagaryens then their downfall and then the North/Stark/winterfell/wall chapeters. The rest isn't really that interesting to me.

Now trying to decide do I want to start the books all over again or just start the series all over again.

There's so much in the books that never held any interest for me.

I thought it was helpful to read up on the kings who ruled during the time of the Dunk and Egg stories.

I read the D&E tales, not in graphic novel form though.

I've read both, and I really enjoyed them told as graphic novels.

I would love to see an animated adaptation of ASOIAF.

If it was faithful, at the same time as not overdoing the looks of the characters (they could the HBO series looks), that would be amazing.

Why do y'all think Myrcella lies about the nature of her injuries and protects the Martells at the end of ADWD? Is it just because she's BFFs with Arianne? It's something that's always stuck out to me.

Does Doran tell her about the ambush planned to kill Trystane? Is she in love with him enough that she'd go against her own family?

She realized how fucking crazy her mom is.
