Diving into a Clash of Kings, finally, after finishing A Game of Thrones three or four years ago. Probably nothing for me in this thread for quite a while. Patchface annoys me. That's my only take from Clash so far.

It's my only take because I just finished the prologue. It takes me very long to read even a page in this series because I'm addicted to looking at appendices, wikis and fan art when I encounter a character or place.

Someone somewhere suggested that fAegon is who Dany has to face at Kings Landing and I like that for explaining the presence of the Golden Company in show Westeros

I have seen suggested that "Harry Strickland" in show-universe is fAegon, but it is far, far too late to introduce that plot, I think.

So you don't think fAegon will be holding Kings Landing by the time Dany lands?

Not reading this thread, but just came in to say I just finished the first book. It was nice having seen the show, making it easier to keep all the characters straight.
Compared to the show two things stuck out to me from the book: One, you have a much better sense of Catelyn's resentment of Jon Snow. Two, you get A LOT more out of the visions Bran has in his dreams.
I'm looking forward to getting a lot more out of the Iron Islands in ACOK. Same with Stannis. It's nice having these books after watching the series. It's like a director's cut on steroids.
