Hader has confirmed it’s not in Barry’s head.

Alright I have a prediction:

Barry and Sally are in witness protection. Their life sucks. Then a Hollywood producer shows up and says they want to option their story for a blockbuster movie.

Flash-forward tonight? Is Barry in witness protection? Any guesses?

Since meeting Sally, Barry has been having visions of his future with her

Who has a house in the middle of miles of dirt with nothing around it? Is that how it is in the dust bowl?

pretty sure Bevel had a Nebraska plate on his car, but Hader could've just as easily picked somewhere in Northern Oklahoma for their residence. flat ass land for miles.

It’s gotta be some farmland in the off-season. Still weird to not have a driveway though.

I’m into it. Hader said the minute he started exploring what happened after Barry broke out of prison he got bored, and was like “I just done care.” But he was super interested in what would happen if every character got what they wanted.

I feel like the hardest part was the abrupt turn to darker territory in S3. Now that it’s settled in, it’s working for me.

well, but scratching what he was building because it sucked doesnt mean the time jump is not cheap. It might be a good resolution, but so far feels kinda lazy.

often my problems are at the level of plot. too often i find the motivations for the plot to be incredibly flimsy. but it's a black comedy that's increasingly disinterested in realism. that's getting more surreal all the time. why am i hung up on this?

ive groused about the comedy this season, but right now i actually like the idea of the comedy not landing quite like it used to. this is what I was getting at in my previous post: not knowing what to make of this season. this sentence is so pretentious and deserving of ridicule, but ill write it anyway. there's a part of me that loves the idea of a black comedy committing to it's morbid aspects, such that it can't really sustain the comedy: a comedy that can no longer be itself.

I’m finding a lot of the comedy to be unfunny in the moment, but really funny in retrospect. A couple examples:

-when they show the sand being delivered to the organization’s storage space, and the guy on the truck is holding the machine gun. There’s nothing illegal about what they’re doing except the gun makes it illegal. This is so f’n funny to me

-in the most recent episode, when Barry refers to St Augustine as the third-most googled saint. Again, didn’t get anything out of me in the moment, but a couple hours later I was like “wtf? What a ridiculous line.”

There’s lots of stuff like that this season.

just looked at writing credits for the season. no more alec berg. think that accounts for the degree of change in tone of the show?
