Just finished episode 2. Man, I wish I could have put money on "Will one of these Italians use the word 'Chinaman' in this episode?"
Just really good, fascinating stuff so far. Really liked the bits about the security worked and how the pieces were transported and everything (and how the winning pieces had imperfections so they couldn't be faked); we still don't know when Uncle Jerry stole the pieces in that whole process, so I'm excited to find that out.
I remember watching a news report about that St. Jude's that got the winning piece, years before this all came out. Just wild.

Boy, that third episode didn't paint a very good picture of his wife. sheesh.
Started listening to the podcast and it's not great. I mean there's a fun story here and there, yeah, but I think it's just ok. I also think that if I had listened to them in the right order I wouldn't have as much of a problem but listening to podcast episode two with his wife after watching episode three is hard.

This is fascinating.
yup. ended up watching all the available episodes over the weekend after hearing this was a thing last week. i definitely played a lot of mcd’s monopoly back then so it was pretty easy to get hooked in those first couple eps.
agent mathews is pretty entertaining. can’t decide which is funnier - him on video tackling the giant check thief, or that he accidentally faxed the whole case to a news station.
only person i feel bad for that they’ve highlighted is the woman that mortgaged her house to put down for the ticket. seems like everyone else that ‘won’ could afford the investment in the scam.

the brother in the first few episodes was a real POS: "I may have done some light fraud, but was it really that bad? I didn't take the million-dollar ticket when he offered it to me."
Guys, I am not a moderator! I swear to God! Why does everyone think I'm a moderator?

Just finished. The faxing blunder was so hilariously fitting. I don't feel bad for anyone that got in trouble. That one guy that won his appeal, he still knew he was doing something wrong because he thought he was helping hide some money for a divorce. And the whole mole reveal... That Colombo brother seemed to be jealous throughout that he wasn't as "important" as his brother.

That brother's wife was fascinating. She was probably my favorite character in the whole thing.
For example implying that Dwight Baker was going to kill his wife's sister, or that Jerry's death wasn't an accident. Well if it wasn't an acccident then why didn't they tell who hit his car, what happened to the driver/people in the other car, and what the official police report say about the accident? Maybe because they would show how it indeed was an accident, which wouldn't fit the mobster storyline.
Also was there any proof that "Uncle Jerry" actually physically harmed anyone (besides the domestic violence)? It seemed more like he was this regular guy who went to the bathroom to steal the winning tickets from a briefcase, was able to sell them and presented himself as this thug who everyone was scared of (because they thought he was some kind of mobster which he actually wasn't)
