Shan would've been out next week if she played her idol this week, but how do you not play it? I feel like DeShawn and Erika overplayed their hand during tribal, I don't know how she didn't see it coming.

I feel like this season, which started really strong, has fizzled at the end.
What is up with Xander's idol? Wasn't it good until this last tribal? Why didn't he play it? Did he really feel that safe? Sort of surprising that Ricard/Heather/Erika (and maybe DeShawn) didn't even have 1 conversation about potentially blindsiding him.
He can use it at the next tribal (Final 5). I have the feeling Xander is not widely loved by anyone on the jury or left in the game, so they don't feel as if he will dominant a final. He has a heck of a story though. I don't really understand voting out Danny over DeShawn.
If you were left in the game at this point, would you spend the next day looking for an idol or continuing to develop/maintain your relationships? An idol would guarantee you would at least make the fire challenge.

My wife and I just finished watching Season 27, Blood Vs. Water, and we were struck by how un-strategic many of the players were compared to the last couple of seasons (it was only 7-ish years ago). On the whole with the season--
Tyson was basically the favorite all the way through, and I don't think, out of the 5-6 seasons we've watched, someone has been so far ahead the whole time without getting knocked out.
We just started 28, and I think our plan is to watch straight through to the present day (sans the more recent seasons we've already watched) and then decide if we want to go back to the beginning. Regarding the premiere of 28:
My god, I can't believe J'Tia threw her tribe's entire bag of rice on the fire and survived tribal. That other guy just had too big of a mouth for his own good--AND went home with an idol in his pocket.

We didn't watch this until tonight. I think Xander had an inside track when he won the final immunity, but he made 3 huge errors:
1. Underestimating Erika and bringing her to the end, of course.
2. Making the comment to the jury about them not liking Erika's game; what a horrible read.
3. I think he undersold himself to the jury. I think he should have sold himself as a risk-taker, someone who would do anything to win. I don't think he was the best player, but out of the final 3, I think he was the most fun to watch. He came off as cocky.

Now that I've watched the finale I'm reading lots of tweets and reactions, and it certainly seems like there was a lot of Erika stuff that got left on the editing room floor, that she was instrumental in a lot of stuff that wasn't seen because of the way the original tribes played out. I believe it, of course, but I still might have voted for Xander.
