C’mon guys. Stip gave you this whole nice tournament, a phenomenal review of the new album, and countless more. The least you can do is give him Waiting For Stevie.

Stevie. It's a really good song, but that riff (and particularly how it the bass and the guitar are combining to make it shimmer), I could listen to that on repeat for quite a while. It's not quite at the upper echelon of the album for me, but it's definitely grown on me since my first listen.
My main Dark Matter stumbling block is that I think it falls off post-Stevie, including the other two songs here. I'm listening to them on full listens, but really I'm wanting to just go back to my personal highlights that show up earlier on the album.

I love the chord that resolves the main verse progression of "Got To Give" ("about you," "but who knew") -- that's a great little musical curveball that really offsets the Springsteen/Mellencamp tenor of the rest of the song. "Whoever said love is a compromise knew you" is a great lyric, especially resolving as it does on that slightly dissonant chord. These are all somewhere in the middle tier of my early impressions but I'm going with "Got to Give."

Kevin Davis march madness posts are always a highlight. Excited to have new songs for them
Got to Give is maybe the song I'm discovering the most small details in with every listen. It's a good song towards the bottom of a stacked album, but lots of moments waiting to be revealed. I just picked up on some of the bridge lyrics yesterday I really liked, and this is probably the most successful version of this type of song yet.
