Love both of these
Amongst the Waves has a wonderful vocal melody in the verse, good lyrics, and an underrated dreamscape vibe. A song doesn't need Binaural's darkness to have atmosphere. This is (for me) every bit as evocative as a sleight of hand or of the girl. But the chorus swings for the fences and only gets a double.
GSMF is a high energy blast of good will from start to finish. It's one of my favorite opening moments of any of their records - just a joyful explosion of a beginning, and I love how the bridge just about runs out of breath before that last transition.

Backspacer is such a good album
This is a great description of both songs. And I like both. ATW has such feel good vibes in parts and sadly lets you down with a, not bad, but underwhelming chorus. GSMF on the other hand is a party from start to finish, and those drum fills give me life.

This is such an apt description of Amongst the Waves. I still chose it over GSMF because…well…Amongst the Waves still has an album anchor vibe to it while GSMF is almost b-side in its toss away-ability.
