The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.

I think it's ok. Especially of you live somewhere you're not ever likely to see Eddie in a hotel or on the street/beach. He's obviously fine with people doing it, I saw him spend about an hour working down a really huge line in Amsterdam, and a lot of people told their lifestories but he gave everyone time.

Waiting in front of hotels is relatively common, in the sense that i think bands are used to that, but i wouldn't be comfortable doing it. I think insisting on being in the front row at as many shows as possible for the band to see you is even weirder for example.

Hanging out for 20-30 minutes after a show to say a quick thanks to a musician is not weird or obtrusive in anyway.
I agree. Showing up at their hotel and stuff, that's weird.
What if you just so happen to be staying at the same hotel?
I think the expectation is that you change hotels
No, that would be stupid. I found myself checking out of a hotel in Perth in 2009 and spied Mr Gossard sitting in the reception lounge. That was certainly a surprise. I ummed and aahd and was gonna leave him be but in the end walked over, excused myself, shook his hand and wished him well for Adelaide and the remainder of the tour. He said "Thanks, man." and I was off.
I still can't fathom the idea of hanging about for hours after a show till the wee small hours to meet an artist. I find it bizarre.
