Try the shortened Eddie focused tracklist. It adds some much needed momentum. It's a slow album to begin with and taking out I Think of Angels, I am a Map, As You Did Before, I will Follow, and Dream really helped with the pacing

Flag Day kind of got the short end of the stick, promo-wise eh? They didn't really push it like they're pushing Earthling
I think the movie got a good track of attention when it premiered in cannes but also didnt have the steam to become something else, and it failed at having any sort of nomination too. Im sure if they got some noms or even if Father´s Daughter got a nom thing would have been different.

Into The Wild got pretty good reviews and has grown in stature over time. It got a few Oscar noms and it got a bit of buzz when it came out. I think Eddie wasn't nominated due to some weird technicality - pretty sure he would have won given he won the Golden Globes.
Flag Day got pretty poor reviews and barely registered with anyone. Penn's directing career kind of tanked after Into The Wild.

I've definitely gotten into Flag Day these past few days. It's riding the coattails of my Earthling high, but there's an engaging core group of songs, and together they become more than the sum of its parts. It's a mood record.

when the time comes, what is the one Glen Hansard thing I should check out that is the most like Tender Mercies/Wave? As You Did Before was fine, but not something I'd seek out

I really like how quick the chord change is under "when you call me I'll be ready"; it could have been more drawn out but its hurriedness underlines the lyric nicely

Fitzcarraldo by The Frames maybe.
