Janet Weiss, Matt Cameron, & Zach Hill set up their kits in the studio, someone hits record & they just go off for like a couple hours, broken into like four or five pieces - all drums, all improvised, all fucking awesome. But then it just sits on a shelf & no one is getting it together to put it out. But I listen to it all the time & if it ever sees the light of day, everyone should grab it. This is lame to put in this list I know but I actually listen to this more than most of the stuff I'm talking about here, & I wanted to mention the fact of its existence.

A: Funny you should ask. In January I recorded a drums only album with a couple of friends. They happen to be two of the most amazing drummers who've ever lived, the stellar Matt Cameron of Soundgarden/Pearl Jam fame, and the mind-blowing Zach Hill from Hella. We set up three kits in the Jackpot! studio here in Portland (during an uncharacteristic snow storm) and improvised for a few days. We hadn't practiced together, and had no set ideas as to what the record would end up sounding like. We sat down and played what we felt during those particular moments together. It was exciting to work in such an improvisational atmosphere, and absolutely thrilling to rock with two guys who push our instrument's capabilities far beyond the established boundaries. The three of us ripped it up! The record will come out this year. Look for a west coast tour.

I have been waiting a long time for this.

If this was just Matt and Janet it would be awesome but maybe a little on the predictable side. When you add Zach...this is guaranteed to be nutso.

I find it hard to get excited about a drums-only album, but I'll keep an open mind.

Or TLDR, skip to about the ten minute mark of this one, when they start jamming on When The Levee Breaks:

I'm interested in this, but like plat, i'm a little cautious of an all-drums album. If someone gets this and wants to post at least snippets of a song or two, i'd much very very very very very grateful
