I thought King Animal was fantastic - supremely better than Lightning Bolt and Backspacer. And I had very high hopes for the album Soundgarden were working on at the time of CC's death. As much as I love PJ, I genuinely felt that Soundgarden had more left in the tank as a artistic force than PJ. Just makes Chris' passing all the sadder. He was no heritage act.

Chris was the most talented and engaging singer of all the Seattle bands that get lumped together. His solo acoustic shows felt like hanging out with a friend. People shouted stuff between songs just like they do at Ed's shows, but he made jokes and rolled with it: "Are you the same guy who comes to all of these shows and screams Birth Ritual?"
I just saw Soundgarden on Saturday and was blown away by how he sounded. I saw people losing their minds - a kid in his 20s drunkenly said to his friends, "Been waiting for this since seventh fucking grade!"
I love Chris Cornell. I will always love Chris Cornell. i was looking forward to seeing him perform for another 15 years. This is as bad as a celebrity death can get for me. Heartbroken.
Completely stunned and utterly shocked. There are pictures of them on stage from last night. A man exists and yet, mere hours later, is no more. Was so much looking forward to the new album they had been recording. Just fucking floored.

My wife and I were just talking the other day about how well he has fared health and voice-wise compared to a lot of his contemporaries. Such a tragic loss. Damn.
Didn't know the man but always loved his company.... whether solo, with Soundgarden or Audioslave. Just a fucking titan of a musician. Will be so sadly missed.
I'm not concerned with how he passed just that he is gone.
RIP Chris.

His music will be always a part of my life of course, but it was such a big part. A lot of things happened with Chris in my life...I saw SG two times, one in Chile..i went to see them. I saw Chris 4 times solo, the last one just last year. I saw Chris with Temple of the fuckin Dog in Alpine. He was just a huge part of what i cared.
