The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Seems pretty irrelevant at this point though doesn't it? Unless they are implying he had a heart attack because of too rigorous of a foo schedule. And it's funny coming from Matt, who has never said no to work ever.

I think the implication is that his friends knew he had a hard drug problem, he said the tour was too much for him, and they said too bad we got gigs to play

I'll admit I only skim read, but I didn't read any drug angle into it.
Just health issues, anxiety, ageing and wanting to slow down, but feeling pressured into not letting down the rest of the band and their crew.
Still very surprising to me that Matt and Chad Smith were happy to be quoted in that piece, which clearly paints Dave and John Silva in an unflattering light.
I have to imagine they're both genuinely pretty distressed and angry.

I mean who knows. Maybe they thought the tour would help. Maybe his usage tended to increase during down time. But you’re filthy rich, bring a sober coach or therapist or babysitter on tour.

He was unconscious on a plane recently and they said exhaustion/dehydrated. That's probably not what it was. It could have been something other than drugs though, especially since his heart was apparently the size of a basketball.

I’d imagine that the brotherhood of these type of drummers on this scale is a small, tight knit group — if not mostly those 3 (now 2) — who have each other’s backs. I interpreted Matt’s commentary as more “hey we have to put up with a LOT of rigor that I don’t think people fully realize”.
