Ok I think I found the clunky solution: Lightning to HDMI to de-embedder with optical out. Gross.

Just get that. I would say the less connections and adaptions the better. That is made for it so plug in and connect and get after it.

Well, the optical is digital but won't provide true HD, but its way better than RCA.

Got a pair of FiiO FD1 earbuds to pair with the M7 and holy moly, have I been listening to music like a caveman for the last few years or what. For $60 they sound incredible.
