Amazing show, My Little Ruin > When Your Mind's Made Up was a powerful one-two-punch
I'm off to see him this Saturday.
We managed to double-book ourselves, buying tickets for Fernard Banning the same night, not realising we already had the Glen tickets. Easy choice though, Glen is such a strong performer and Bernard can on occasion phone-it-in.
Well, that was fucking amazing. Had pretty good seats, 4 rows back:
This was the last show of the tour, so everyone was in a mighty fine mood.
I thought "Way Back in the Way Back When" was the highlight and then he came on with just the Sax player and did "Love Don't Leave Me Waiting", and that was definitely the highlight.
Until after the very last song ("Song of Good Hope") when Glen and Simon (of the roadcrew) the drummer, the lead guitarist and the bassist came out and blasted through a most fucking excellent version of ACDC's Down Payment Blues! Sooooooo good.
Then the whole crew out front, unplugged with a 10 minute version of "Passing Through".
I admire artists who stand up for what they believe in . Check out what Glen Hansard and friends have been up to in their quest to reduce homelessness in Dublin and beyond www.homesweethome.ie
That was really really wonderful. really cool adaptation.
Minor complaints but thats just because Glen hansard is one of my all-times.
The gal who is playing Marketa really had that sweet and adorable thing locked down. The kid who was playing Glen seemed very very stiff. He did good with the songs in a karaoke sense but felt he was trying too hard to sound exactly like glen which ended up neutering some of the performances.
