Yea, but more so in the UK. "Oasis vs Blur" was their own "Pearl Jam vs Nirvana."

The Great Escape is a candidate for best album.

Giving these guys and Gorillaz another try on the strength of Trag and Dev's energy in this thread. In the past I've only been familiar with S/T, Parklife and the tracks on their Best Of. I listened to some stuff from 13 and Think Tank today and admit that I may have unfairly written Albarn and Co. off based on the ho-hum generic Britpop of Blur's early career.

This is great to hear, WM. Always nice when an Other Bands thread can rise above the echo chamber.

For sure. Though I do fear that lyrically this band is too bleak for my current head space. I've gotten around that with bands before by focusing on the music.

The Brit-Pop trilogy is still the pinnacle but each of the albums after wards have their merits with the musical style they pursued. Think Tank is probably the weakest of that bunch. I really enjoyed Magic Whip too.

As dumb as that is, it's incredibly effective. Also a great moment in the live show.

 The stretch of songs on 13 from Battle to No Distance Left to Run is very, very good.

I don't think there's a single song on 13 that I'd rate lower than 4/5 stars.

Just saw this for the first time. The only one of these Fallon things I’ve ever enjoyed?

Brilliant performance. Easily one of their best songs.

I think we did a bunch of posting in Spenno's The Magic Whip thread not too long ago. Someone should merge that shit.
