On that note, we all know Ticketmaster fees are out of control. But this was a whole new level. Ticket price $81, actual final total $110. A 35% mark-up.

Yeah, we've noticed that lately, too.

I bought John Mayer tickets yesterday and tickets costing $150 ended up costing $191.90. Best I can say is they are mailing two cd's to me when his new album is released.

eaux claires festival lineup announcement coming this thursday. will be interesting to see which direction they go this year.
first year was a perfect balance of hyper-local (justin vernon's high school and college buddies' bands) and big name indie acts (spoon, sufjan, tallest man, the national). it felt like a big fucking deal.
second year basically drew from the day of the dead tribute comp...phosphorescent, jenny lewis, bonnie prince billy, plus erykah badu and her shitty attitude. and fucking bruce hornsby was EVERYWHERE. year 2 was cool but felt smaller and lower key than year 1.
(rumor was moving it to august for year 2 made it harder to book the big names, who are typically playing euro festivals at that time.)
#3 is in june, so hopefully they're able to find that balance again that they had for #1.
for headliners i'm guessing the national debuting their new album one night, bon iver the other night.

Concert of my nightmares.
i could only make it through a couple of songs of the national's headlining set a couple of years ago. they don't click for me at all. every song is complex drum pattern + tense guitars + sad vampire vocals. i like bon iver's albums but they're pretty dull live unless watching a guy in huge headphones hunch over a computer is your thing.
