Fleet Foxes and Beach House - Comerica Theater - 9/24/2017
How the hell can these two bands fill Comerica? It looked to be about half full when Fleet Foxes opened for Bon Iver a few years ago and that was at Justin's peak of popularity. Seems like a Marquee show.

Beach House actually seems to have a really good following here (in fact, I'm going with a bunch of people I know who are die-hard fans of theirs). In fact, they played the Marquee on their last tour and it sold out, I believe (or close to it). So maybe they think that, combined with the growing mythos of Fleet Foxes, that they can pull a decent crowd there.
Also I'm not a huge fan of the Marquee itself, so I'm pretty thankful that it's going to be at Comerica.

I don't think either venue is great, but I HATE Comerica. Way too cavernous. The acoustics are horseshit.
I wish there were more shows at the Mesa Arts Center. But I know that for most bands the idea of playing Mesa is about as sexy as playing the Apache Junction Senior Center.

I have 2 celebration rock podcasts about FJM and thought I'd listen to his music again for context. I should just delete the pods.
Yesterday I had over 4 hours driving so I listened to Father John Misty Pure Comedy and then the 2 Celebration Rock podcasts about and with JT. I did not like the album (too much Randy Newman and 70s piano rock). I much preferred listening to him talk than hearing the music. Not one song had any redeeming quality to make me listen again. And I owned a fucking Better Than Ezra record 25 years ago.

Beck will be at Red Rocks when I pass through town. Should I?
Holy shit yes.
I did this. It was cool. I've seen Beck several times, so this was all about the venue. Hiked to Emerald Lake in the afternoon, saw the show in the evening, drove to Omaha overnight.
