I am seeing Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals/ Trombone Shorty in NYC on the 27th. I quite enjoy both bands but for the first time in a while, I am worried it’ll be a diminished experience coming on the heels of those MMJ shows last week.
I've seen Trombone Shorty sit in with a few bands. Love the guy.
I saw him the one time opening for Michael Franti & Spearhead with Orleans Avenue. All the albums I heard I think are from the same. He really brings a lot to his music in modernizing the New Orleans jazz scene. It’s great.
This (very unexpectedly for Adelaide!) sold out right away, so I'm hanging out trying to find a spare.
They added a second show but not until the following week and I'll be away for work then (which almost never happens but of course does when I finally want to go to a show.)

What a show! Ben played first and mostly 90s material including Ground On Down, Steal My Kisses, Burn One Down, The Woman In You, and a great extended Fight For Your Mind with DJ Logic. The highlight had to be Machine Gun>Superstition and a cover that Juan Nelson sang that I could not identify. They closed with Better Way.
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue was incredible and worthy of headlining tonight. Just on Fire the whole night and really strongly sampled from each of their albums while throwing in a bit of the Neville Brothers and James Brown in their set. Just incredible and I won’t miss them again when they are in town.
Going to Basilica Soundscape on Friday in Hudson, NY, mainly to see Jessica Moss and Jerusalem in My Heart. Hoping for some nice surprises from some of the other artists.

The Who tomorrow night; this one kind of snuck up on me. It's been awhile sine I have seen Pete & Roger but I like the idea of an orchestra backing them. Plus surely this is the last one, right?
