Can't make my mind stop from racing
It’s not good or bad, it’s just how God made me
To lay awake at night ceiling gazing

Looking out the window, up at the blue sky
Listening to her scream, listening to her cry
A feeling of relief came over my soul
I couldn't take it any longer and I lost control

I chased her up the stairs
And I pinned her to the ground
And underneath her whimpering
I could hear the sirens sound

I rattled off a list of everything I missed
Like going to the movies with her
And the way she kissed me

It's weird, but I've had trouble listening to Koz since watching the On Tour DVD. The musical performances in the film were all quite good, but the man is a complete tool. There is even more "Wahhhh, touring is so hard, why do I have to do it" whining than in Radiohead's 'Meeting People Is Easy', and he totally disses parts of his fanbase ("guys without girlfriends", or something stupid like that).

95% of the time, I'm able to seperate the recorded music and the artist as a person, but his stage banter was just so incredibly douchey. It's colored my perception of his recent (post-April) stuff to the point where I can't work up the motivation to listen to it.

The RHP records all kick ass, though. Ocean Beach is untouchable.

Yeah, from the stuff I have read about him, he seems like a total asshole. But I'm pretty good at separating the work from the person. He makes some damn fine music, so I can overlook his assholeness.

Maybe this is why Mickey loves him so much...the relatability. Is he a new name on this board, or is he gone?

Anyway, I haven't listened to Koz since 2010...put on Ghosts tonight, it's good. The swirling (and quite brilliant) guitar work came right back to the forefront just like it did eventually last time I was into Sun Kil Moon a couple years ago.

I feel a kinship with my fellow douchebag assholes, so this only endears me to him.

He tends to have releases in groups, I may pre-order one for the limited edition live set. This sounds good:

Sun Kil Moon & The Album Leaf:
Perils From The Sea

(Caldo Verde Records)
Release Date: April 30, 2013

'Perils From The Sea' is the debut collaboration by The Album Leaf's multi-instrumentalist Jimmy LaValle and Sun Kil Moon singer Mark Kozelek. The project began on Sept 11, 2011, when Kozelek, a fan and acquaintance of LaValle, asked Jimmy to co-write a song. LaValle, a long time admirer of Kozelek's work, said yes, and the track 'What Happened To My Brother' came together quickly. Pleased with the results, the two agreed to record an entire album. Kozelek and LaValle continued to work together over the following year, until 'Perils From The Sea' was completed. For the album LaValle chose a more minimalist approach to the music than The Album Leaf's large sonic soundscapes. The lyrics to the song, 'You Missed My Heart', Kozelek says were inspired by a nightmare he had in an Ontario hotel room. Kozelek's story-telling narratives playing against LaValle's hypnotic synth sounds and drums beats should come as a pleasant surprise to fans, and should serve as a great introduction to those previously unacquainted with these prolific and acclaimed artists.

Track listing:
1. What Happened To My Brother
2. 1936
3. Gustavo
4. Baby In Death Can I Rest Next To Your Grave
5. Ceiling Gazing
6. You Missed My Heart
7. Caroline
8. He Always Felt Like Dancing
9. By The Time That I Awoke
10. Here Come More Perils From The Sea
11. Somehow The Wonder Of Life Prevails

Just listening now. Only two songs in, but I love this sound.

So what else has he released this year?

This doesn't really bother me, but I haven't listened to him since AFP. I heard some of the tracks from the light-hearted album and they were just bad and I lost interest. But Ghosts is still one of my favorites of all time.
