Nine songs in (plus the two singles), immediate thoughts: Jeff has in fact taken the cotton out of his mouth. Sonically it’s closest to Being There. As for song selection, they do a good job of sequencing so it doesn’t feel at all like a Nashville genre exercise. But it’s a very laid back album. Not quite Schmilco energy, but like just a step above that. Early favorites are Hints, The Empty Condor, All Across the Works, and Darkness is Cheap. |
