I may have posted something similar to this before? But there’s an enormous gap between the Wilco albums I view as the objective best, and the ones I actually want to listen to.

Objective best

YHF
AGIB
Summerteeth
Being There
Sky Blue Sky
Ode To Joy
Schmilco
Star Wars
Wilco The Album
AM
The Whole Love

Actually Want To Listen To
Sky Blue Sky
Schmilco
Ode To Joy
Star Wars
AGIB
YHF
Wilco The Album
The Whole Love
Being There
Summerteeth
AM

I'm throwing together a spotify playlist for my run later and it's pretty tough because Wilco has always been a band with clear "opening songs" and "closing songs". You can't put IATBYH, ALTWYS and Misunderstood near each other in the playlist. It doesn't feel right. Same thing with songs like Reservations and Dreamer in My Dreams, though it's not as consistent with "closing songs".

I put together a post-YHF Wilco/Loose Fur/Tweedy one about a year ago. I should listen to it this weekend.

I happen to find it to be a pleasant little ditty on an otherwise clunker of an album.

Yeah it’s one of a few songs I like on that album.

And verb I’ve had the same issue with wilco playlists in the past.

The version of Capitol City on the deluxe Being There is fine. They just cocked everything up to embarrassing levels on Whole Love

I think the lyrics are lame but I enjoy the song overall. Fun songs like Hate it Here and Walken seem to be what bother people about SBS. I don't get it.

oh, I'll definitely give it more listens.

I did start on Ode to Joy, another one I haven't listened to much. I really like that one, probably because it has similarities to AGIB.

I listened to it all the way through earlier today and I think you really just have to be in the right mood to take it on. It's sparse sounding like Schmilco, but not in the same warm and nostalgic way.
