2 shows are tempting me.

Clouds with Falling Joys.
Never seen either band but loved them around 1990. Penny Century and Wishlist were great albums plus clouds first 2 eps were hot.

Paul Kelly and Steve Earle
2 artists I've seen a heap of times who never disappoint. Together and less than 10 mins from home.

I looked at the PK/SE show which is 'A Day on the Green over here. I would love to see SE in particular, but tix were priced way over the top. I was looking at getting 4 so a group of us could go, but that would have put a minimum $700 dent in the credit card, which I just couldn't justify at the time.

I probably should look again, see what's available now.

Neither of these will happen. Clouds is sold out and the second night I'm busy.

The Kelly/Earle night is the Australiua vs Honduras WCQ. I'll be on the lounge with beer in hand.

That's $$$ in da pocket.

One of Australia's most important musical legends passed away the other day, George Young, older brother of ACDC's Malcolm and Angus. George, along with his life-long musical partner Harry Vanda, are so intrinsically sewn into the fabric of Australian music that I can honestly say that they are in some way or another directly responsible for probably 80% of the music that I have grown up with and loved.

From being in the Easybeats (Australia's own entrant in the mop-top Beatles-lead revolution of the early 60s):

To producer of albums such as ACDC's Let There be Rock, Dirty Deeds, TNT, Powerage and High Voltage:

As well as producer duties for iconic Australian bands such as The Angels and Rose Tattoo and publishing artists through Alberts Productions:

On to writing credits for other artists:

Through to his own version of intelligent, of-the-times pop:

This gent was an Australian legend who's legacy will live on always. I think it's so beautifully Australian that a Scottish immigrant can meet up with a Dutch immigrant and together work to create the sound of quintessentially Australian pub rock. Mind you, they seemed to be able to excel in whatever genre they decided to have a crack at.

RIP George.

Well said mate.

Thanks for posting the clips, a few things there I didn't realise he was involved with - a huge loss for this country :peace:
