These guys are good. Remind me of EITS.

God is an Astronaut are hands down better and more interesting than EITS. They are such a tremendous group, and they kick ass live.

Enjoying the Prince Avalanche soundtrack. It's super mellow and atmospheric for EITS. I dig it.

I think I've decided that the first album is the best that these guys have done. For a long time, I awarded that honor to All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone, but How Strange, Innocence has just been hitting the spot for me lately. It's pretty much perfectly sequenced and the songs are well put together without indulging some of the overly sweet sappiness of their later works.

My favorite constantly changes between All of a Sudden..., The Earth Is Not..., and How Strange...

It's definitely an interesting left turn for these guys. I'm happy to hear how well it turned out. I was pretty sure they didn't have it in them to do something different; I'm glad I was wrong.

I've been listening to The Wilderness a lot lately.

Beautiful album. It mixes "electronic" touches with the chimey EitS sound, but also pushes them pretty far from their comfort zone. The crazy middle section of Logic of a Dream and the end of Colors in Space are amazing.

The Ecstatics and Disintegration Anxiety are also great.

Seems like every post-rock band does a math rock album and EitS did it pretty fucking well.

I don't hear any math rock in it, but I agree with the rest of what you're saying. I think it's pretty solidly my favorite EitS album now.

Some of the drums and time signature shifts seem math rocky to me.

So the band is 20 years old this year, and they're doing a decent amount of touring to celebrate that. Supposedly they have announced "Part 1" of the dates, so there's probably more to be coming.

05/09 – Shanghai, CN @ Bandai Namco Dream Hall
05/10 – Beijing, CN @ Tango 3F
05/12 – Tokyo, JP @ O-East
05/13 – Osaka, JP @ Club Quattro
09/11 – Mesa, AZ @ Mesa Arts Center
09/12 – Los Angeles, CA @ Hollywood Palladium
09/13 – Santa Ana, CA @ Yost Theater
09/14 – Point Reyes, CA @ Love Field
09/16 – Oakland, CA @ Fox Theater
09/17 – Sacramento, CA @ Crest Theater
09/19 – Salt Lake City, UT @ The Depot
09/20 – Denver, CO @ Ogden Theatre
09/21 – Boulder, CO @ Boulder Theater
09/22 – Taos, NM @ Taos Mesa Brewing Amphitheater
10/10 – Knoxville, TN @ The Mill & Mine
10/11 – Raleigh, NC @ The Ritz
10/12 – Sayreville, NJ @ Starland Ballroom
10/13 – New York, NY @ Knockdown Center
10/14 – Buffalo, NY @ Asbury Hall
10/16 – Detroit, MI @ Masonic Temple Cathedral
10/17 – Bloomington, IL @ Castle Theatre
10/18 – Madison, WI @ The Sylvee
10/19 – St Paul, MN @ The Palace Theater
10/20 – Maquoketa, IA @ Codfish Hollow Barnstormers
10/22 – Lincoln, NE @ The Bourbon Theatre
10/23 – Lawrence, KS @ Liberty Hall
10/24 – Oklahoma City, OK @ Criterion Theater

I'm eyeing that Buffalo date. I saw them in 2008, and it would be good to do so again, especially with more material available.
