where does one start with smog? i've only listened to knock knock because pitchfork gave it a 10 or something and i didn't listen to anything in college if it wasn't blessed by pitchfork.
old campaigner -- if I hadn't spent the better part of 2019 rolling balls on felt, ramming drugs down my gullet, longing to be reduced to a stone pillar, I'd have read this post before today and directed you to the dianoetic laugh of Julius Caesar. an inverted metamorphosis, a drunkard's canticle in the desert, a record containing all the charm & goodwill of a man dead-set on being loved.

yeah. Second listen and I'm way into this one. If Sheppard... was an album for putting down newborns, this album -- or at least thing song -- could be an album for keeping up with toddlers.

There's something to that. Shepherd was very contemplative, especially about life and death (one of those weird things where new life has you thinking about the end of life), and this album could be more of a celebration. We'll see.
I almost quoted "The Beast" in the best man speech at my brother's wedding, but it really didn't fit the tone of it, which was more of a roast.
i'm listening to coyote for the first time and it's really rekindled my interest in bill callahan, which had been on the wane for a little while. lovely song.
