I’ve only listened to these once or twice. It’s a pain to fire up just a few songs. Can’t wait for the album though.

If you've got Spotify, the "release" for each new song is an EP with all the other songs on it. So if you fire up "Let's Move to the Country," it'll play all the other news songs after it.

Yeah amazon music doesn’t do that. I love this new version of Let’s Move though, but the original was never one of my favorite smog songs

this was pretty good. Seems more like his last album in how it meanders without ever really landing anywhere.

I like it, and I'm looking forward to the new album, but it's going to be hard to top Shepherd.

Shepherd is really something else. A singular entry in his catalog. Still lots there yet to reveal itself to me, and I’ve listened to it a fair bit.

Haven't seen it anywhere, and I'll probably wait. I'm really dogging getting one song per week.

Hmm, I'm not seeing it in my usual places. But yeah, I'm happy to wait.

I am loving Gold Record -- "Pigeons" and "The McKenzies" are instant favorites.

Absolutely. These are both like little short stories.

I pre-ordered the LP directly from the label and it hasn't even left the warehouse yet :gomez:

i pre-ordered mine from Drag City too, and have gotten 2 different shipping notifications for the order, with two separate tracking numbers. not sure what the hell is going on.
Drag City is notorious for shipping records without letting you know though, i've gotten shipping notifications from them MONTHS after i already received the record so it's possible yours is on the way already too.

I got 2 tracking numbers too! They've both showed up in my USPS account. One got cancelled today, so there must have been some sort of screw-up in the shipping department. I ordered something else from them last night (some Silver Jews are back in stock!) so who the fuck knows when that will show up.

From what I can gather, the US release of the LP has been delayed until 9/25. If you look on Discogs, all the copies for sale are from the UK. We've got some waiting to do yet.

Lovely album. Immediate favorites are Pigeons, Protest Song, Let's Move to the Country ( :heartbeat: :heartbeat: love this new version), Cowboy, and Ry Cooder (he's a real straight shooter).

This is like ARATMTL with the more meandering tendencies of his last album. Cool spot for him to be in. I generally rank the run from Woke On a Whaleheart - Dream River as sort of middle-of-the-road Callahan, where he seemed to trade some of his edginess for more lush instrumentation. The more meandering stuff he tapped into on Shepherd... feels like a great fit for an older, mellower Callahan, but I have to admit I like the more focused approach of this new album a bit more.
