(sigh) me too, my friend. me, too

https://www.culturecreature.com/fugazi-reunion/

Quote:
Punk fans often pine for a Fugazi reunion – but according to Fugazi leader Ian MacKaye, that’s something of a misunderstanding of the band’s current status. During a recent episode of the Culture Creature podcast, I asked MacKaye about the band’s current status. MacKaye reiterated a point that I’ve heard him make about Fugazi before: “We still are in the band together with each other, regardless of what people think.”

I followed up by asking, “Have you guys ever jammed just for fun at any point?” He replied, “Oh, sure – over the years? Sure, of course, yeah. But really – purely just to play music together because that’s what we love to do.”

So Fugazi still exists – they’ve just gone underground (literally, if their private performances occur in the basement of Dischord House). MacKaye went on to discuss the ramifications that he feels complicate the potential for a public Fugazi performance, including the ticket resale market, band members’ personal circumstances, and more.

Listen to the complete Ian MacKaye interview on the Culture Creature podcast.

Yeah, I had heard this too. Maybe someday. Although I have to admit that The Argument is a perfect album to end on.

Well done 96583UP. If you ever want to get my attention, this might be the best thread. Brendan Canty is looking old.

Random thoughts after taking a spin through Active Topics:

I'll be at the Missoula show.

Get Out >>> The Last Jedi

Brawl on Cell Block 99 is the best flick I watched all year, followed closely by Stephen King's It. Lady Bird was fantastic, but Greta Gerwig's accolades are vastly inflated; her direction was on par with Kevin Smith's. Her screenplay and the performances are what made that film so great, while the visuals/camera work were not even remotely interesting.

My fav album of 2017 is Kendrick Lamar's DAMN, followed closely by Cornelius's Mellow Waves. Soundgarden and a mix of my favorite Can songs have otherwise filled the majority of my listening space.

Samantha Bee and Dave Chappelle are both quite funny and provocative.

PhatJ is not a racist.

Pray for dpup.

Trag out.

I found this the other day. It's a fun listen. Fugazi Edits.
Quote:
Chris Lawhorn released Fugazi Edits. The album includes 22 instrumental tracks, which sample 100 songs from Fugazi's discography. As in other cases, the band had no involvement in the production. But, the album was authorized for release by MacKaye, with the proceeds going to charity.

Also, Discord keeps adding to their Fugazi concert recording series.

Both the shows I attended are on there and both have surprisingly decent audio considering one is from a cassette and the other is from a VHS recording.

There’re playing here in Dublin on Sunday. Under some new guise.

Weird.
