A couple of years ago when I stepped back from PJ a bit I got a email from livechilipeppers about a free live ep and then a free live show. I downloaded those and got back into them. I had SA but never really get into it. Then I found some shows from 2006-2007 and it got me back into the record. John's playing was incredible around this era.

The show was really good, although short in comparison to PJ. They played some of my favorites, though. Wet Sand was amazing to see. Dark Neccessities, Go Robot, Detroit and Goodbye Angels from the new record were pretty awesome as well. Soul To Squeeze and I Like Dirt were pleasant surprises. Great singalongs for most of the night. The jams in between songs are definitely highlights. Flea is such an inspiration. Josh Klinghoffer blew me away. He fits in perfectly and is really coming into his own with the band. I was also really happy we got Look Around from I'm With You.
BabyMetal was perhaps the most interesting band I've ever seen. Costume Metal guys fronted by 3 Japanese teenage girls doing synchronized dances and vocals. One of the early highlights was seeing Jack Irons play, though. He done about a 20 minute set featuring his drumming and programmed sounds. He also had some cool visuals on the screen. The RHCP light show was pretty cool, too. PNC is one loud arena. Can't wait to buy the recording of this show!

Listening to Californication after a long long time...man, i love this one. The band sounds so tight and the melodies are beautiful. John´s guitars in Scar Tissue are great.

i'll give it up to the chili peppers, their bonnaroo set was probably my favorite of that weekend. i'd seen them twice before in the last ten years and wasn't all that impressed, so my expectations weren't exactly high. i even considered just not going and finding something else to do. but i'm glad i did go. they were just on point that night and i liked the song selection (though nothing pre-bssm, and i knew none of the most recent songs). aeroplane was a nice surprise, i'd thought they'd abandoned that one long ago. it turned out to be just a fun show, something their previous shows i'd seen were not.
Intro Jam Can't Stop Dani California Scar Tissue Dark Necessities The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie I Wanna Be Your Dog (The Stooges) Right On Time Go Robot Californication What Is Soul? (Funkadelic) Aeroplane Snow ((Hey Oh)) Suck My Kiss Soul To Squeeze By The Way ----- Goodbye Angels Give It Away
