Pretty sure Flea’s was pretty crappy too?
Unless I missed something (I just skimmed the article), I think the worst of this stuff happened before Chad joined? I’d think anything from BSSM onward was more of a Motley Crue groupie thing with consenting adults.
Anyway I’m not defending any of them; I love their music but I don’t give a fuck, I recognize they were/probably still are a bunch of dickheads. Was just positing why there’s probably never gonna be a successful #CancelRHCP campaign. Don’t care if I’m wrong. I’ve got zero attachment to them as humans; I’m just here for the ding dang dong dong ding dangs.

In his new memoir, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea recalls a Halloween night of genuine horror. At 13, he was trick-or-treating with friends when word spread through his neighborhood that a madman was firing a gun randomly in the street. The terrified kids scattered to find safety in their homes, but when Flea approached his parents’ house he noticed that all the front windows had been blown out and debris strewn all over the lawn. Once inside, he found his step-father, Walter, with blood smeared over his face and torso, a smoking pistol dangling by his side. “He was the lunatic they were all talking about,” Flea recalled. “It was terrifying and shameful.”

Lol I hope it’s true. I hope it’s a quadruple album with at least nine songs that directly reference California in the title. I hope it’s the most RHCP album they ever made.
