The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
Check this bass out. The Tony Grey sig. Fodera Monarch. It's a short scale, headless 6 string with a chambered body. Light (due to the chambered body), with no neck dive (because it's headless), improved playability (due to it's 30.25 inch scale), but no sacrificed resonance due to the exotic woods and unreal workmanship. Skip to 11:26 for a tone demo.

Picked up a MIM Fender Jazz bass. I would've liked a MIJ but there weren't any available in my area. I couldn't justify a MIA because they're wildly overpriced and I'll be modding this one with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups and a Badass III bridge anyway.

I've generally been happy with the MIM Fender stuff. You can improve them quite a bit with a few after-market upgrades, and to your point, waaay cheaper than MIA but performing just about the same.

Are these Squire branded or Fender branded?

Maybe I’m wrong but I’d say the bulk of Fender’s regular production is out of the Mexican factory, both guitars and amps (maybe all amps outside of Fender Custom Shop).
Ok so this was a disaster. The neck must have shifted pretty badly in transit, because in its current state it's a little more than a really expensive piece of firewood. Wish me luck -- I hate truss rods.
