I love love love both On Graveyard Hill and Catfish Kate. Also St. Nazaire, Daniel Boone and Death Horizon....i got super into Please Dont Go and Hey Debussy last night.. and yeah, Los Surfers Muertos is great.
I really dig the Paz track. The Silver Bullet > Long Rider > Los Surfers Muertos > St. Nazaire is a great run. I think the album hits a bit of a skid early with This Is My Fate > Ready For Love, but they might be growers. The singles are obviously brilliant, and David Boone > Death Horizon is a lovely closing sequence.
I agree with This Is My Fate and Ready For Love being kinda weak, and yes, they also might be growers. I think most of the demos are better songs though.

Late to the party, but yeah, Beneath the Eyrie slaps. Pixies aren't dead, and Paz is doing an outstanding job.
I listened when it was new, and I really, really couldn't get into it.
Maybe I'll try again soon.
Please try again
OK, so I did.
I gave up after the first three songs and put on Trompe le Monde instead.
Whatever elements work for me on the original records are just totally absent.
The songs just don't hit for me.
This made in interested in also listening to it for the first time. Now also three songs in I feel the same. It's not bad but I also absolutely do not care about it at all. The only Pixies I really love is the first two, though.

Yeah, Bossanova and TLM are a bit hit and miss, but I still like them and the high points are just as good as anything they ever did.
Come On Pilgrim came out 34 years ago, Spenno. I'd say they're doing pretty well. And by pretty well, I mean better than 99% of artists who've been at it for over three decades.

Oh, for sure.
I'm certainly glad they're still making a go of it, and Dave Lovering (for example) isn't scraping by in some boring job.
