I have always liked STP. I didn't get the last record. I am not sure why. They just slipped off my radar I guess. I loved the single from SW's last solo record, Missing Cleveland. It sounded just like a STP song.
I have to check out that book.
1. Purple 2. Core 3. Tiny Music 4. #4 5. Shangri 6 STP (never heard it so this is more default)

his ex wife's book is a lot better than his...and the last STP record is pretty enjoyable, if a little basic
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS FIRE Lead Singer Scott Weiland
BREAKING NEWS
Stone Temple Pilots has unceremoniously FIRED its lead singer Scott Weiland ... who's been the face of the seminal rock band for 20 years.
The group released an ominously curt statement today, saying, "Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland." They don't give any further explanation.
It's pretty shocking for several reasons ... the main being Weiland has been a core member of the group since it came together in 1986. His voice has become synonymous with STP's sound ... on hits like "Plush," "Sour Girl," and "Sex Type Thing."
Another reason this came out of nowhere ... Weiland denied rumors he was leaving the band just yesterday, telling Rolling Stone, "STP has not broken up. I haven't quit. I haven't been fired."
Rumors of a split began a couple of months ago when Slash said STP had fired Weiland.
STP reformed in 2008 after a 5-year hiatus and toured through last year -- but apparently it hasn't been working out.
So far, it's unclear who STP has in mind to replace Weiland ... if anyone.
Weiland's behavior at shows has been questionable at best, even since the reunion. I could have seen this happening two years ago when I saw him solo at Irving Plaza and he didn't show up till 11:45pm and was completely bombed. Can a mod changed my " Yeah, yeah, Yeah" to Fired, looking for work?

There was talk of Weiland embarking on a solo tour with his own band, planning to perform all of Core and Purple. STP was talking about a Core tour, but then Dean only wanted to do hits or something. I can't imagine them replacing him. They just need time apart, yet again.
Hopefully this means the DeLeos will bring back Richard Patrick for another go-round. I liked Army of Anyone.

is really weird to hear the band firing scott again...are they hiring a new singer? seems like a provocation to me. Still, they should have take a long hiatus and come back with new music, as Scott seemed to suggest.
