Ok, I guess it's only appropriate that I start this thread also. Last I check the band was gonna release a special 20th anniversary edition of Core which never happened. They also were going to play core album on tour last fall, which also never happened. What else happened
Scott wrote a book, not a bad read.
They made a new record where they never actually stepped in the studio with Scott.
They did a 4 year greatest hits tour.
Now there are rumors that Scott is begging the boys from VR to take him back because STP has fired him.

next to the band we all came here for originally, there is no band more important to me than stp. i love them. i think weiland has an incredible sense of melody. i know be borrows liberally, but i don't think he has ever shied away from admitting that. i've seen stp 4 times, velvet revolver twice, and scott solo twice and never been burned by one of his notorious performances. my hope is that he's put some money away and can exist on his solo work from here on out. i think scott is the only person on the planet who really wants to see velvet revolver reunite. another album from stp would be welcome, but since they refuse to actually ever play a significant amount of it live, what's the point?
scott and his hired band put on great shows. he's looser, the setlists are fun and varied, and it's a chance to see him in a theater rather than the shitty midlevel halls that stp can sell.
happy in galoshes is a great winter album. if you missed it and you're looking for something different, give it a shot. he channels some of his heroes and he even sort of plagiarizes his earlier work, but it's a fun listen. oh, and download the deluxe. his cover of the smiths' reel around the fountain is a highlight.

whats the rest of the band doing? have they attempted to replace weiland?
First time they tried that we got Talk Show, and the second was Army of Anyone. Talk Show wasn't a bad album - I listened to it again because of this thread - and Army of Anyone was actually OK.

the whole scott is fired thing its just a rumor..nobody say that. I dont think they are over, they might take a long hiatus before doing something again.

Listened to the Velvet Revolver albums the past few days and they were pretty good. I think I like them better than the s/t STP album. I'll have to listen to that tonight to do a better comparison since I haven't heard it in over a year.
So scott is now going to do a solo tour of his band playing all of core and purple. THis bound to be either interesting. Considering the shit show I saw of him solo in 2008. I guess the band is done.
