Nebraska, for instance, was supposed to be a full, rockin’ E Street Band album, for instance, before Springsteen decided to release his spectral solo-acoustic demos instead. “Born In The USA,” by contrast, started out as a Nebraska-style stark acoustic song before becoming a stadium-shaking rocker. This past weekend, Toby Scott, Springsteen’s longtime recording engineer, played some snippets of those alternate-reality versions of Springsteen songs at a Mexican radio conference.

During his 87-minute presentation, Scott played a few different takes of Springsteen recording “Born In The USA.” One of them was the solo-acoustic demo that Springsteen recorded in 1982, the Nebraska era. That version came out on Springsteen’s 1998 box set Tracks. But Scott also played a bit of a “Born In The USA” version that, as far as I know, is previously unheard — a bluesy and intense full-band take that’s nothing like the versions that we’ve already heard. Have a feeling the late summer US leg will start with a heavy set of gigs at the Meadowlands.

I’d still prefer an arena setting. I saw Bruce at the old Giants Stadium in 2009 and while it was a special show (cover to cover rendition of Born in the USA included), the stadium just seemed so large and the band so far away. It also had to be compared with the show I saw at Nassau Coliseum a few months earlier where I was in GA in the very front - also was my first Springsteen show.

I believe I had prioritized it MSG, LI2, LI1, Newark - mostly due to convenience.

I have no doubt the Garden would be a fantastic stop, I enjoyed the arena shows I've seen.
I saw them at Giants Stadium in '08, which was before they opened up the whole floor for GA, so it was just a small area in front of the stage that was obviously packed but you'd turn around and just see an absolutely packed stadium; that was somethin'

Hoping for the best. I can’t believe we haven’t really seen him since Springsteen on Broadway, which was very cool. Nothing like seeing him with the band though. I went in 2016 on The River tour, and I think that was his last with the band until next year. Crazy.
