The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
No, artist ultimately controls the price and has to agree to it. Springsteen did cause he might as well get the scalped prices and not the scalpers. Eddie Vedder did same shit for his last tour - a TON of the tickets were "platinum".
Springsteen has a covers album coming in November. One of the musicians on this covers album of 50s and 60s soul and R&B songs will be Fonzi Thornton - known amongst us as one of the infamous backup singers for Eddie at MSG on 6/24/08 and 6/25/08.

I was at those shows, is the infamy for a reason?
I missed the news of the release as it has been a busy few days but the alternate Stolen Car came up on shuffle recently and I've been playing Bruce often since. His studio voice sounds tremendous right now so this album sounds like it could be superb:
The Boss wrote:
Bruce Springsteen’s new studio album, a collection of fifteen soul music greats titled Only The Strong Survive, will be released by Columbia Records on November 11. Featuring lead vocals by Springsteen, Only The Strong Survive celebrates soul music gems from the legendary catalogues of Motown, Gamble and Huff, Stax and many more. This 21st studio album from Bruce Springsteen will also feature guest vocals by Sam Moore, as well as contributions from The E Street Horns, full string arrangements by Rob Mathes, and backing vocals by Soozie Tyrell, Lisa Lowell, Michelle Moore, Curtis King Jr., Dennis Collins and Fonzi Thornton.
Bruce Springsteen commented: “I wanted to make an album where I just sang. And what better music to work with than the great American songbook of the Sixties and Seventies? I’ve taken my inspiration from Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Jimmy Ruffin, the Iceman Jerry Butler, Diana Ross, Dobie Gray, and Scott Walker, among many others. I’ve tried to do justice to them all—and to the fabulous writers of this glorious music. My goal is for the modern audience to experience its beauty and joy, just as I have since I first heard it. I hope you love listening to it as much as I loved making it.”
Only The Strong Survive was tracked at Thrill Hill Recording in New Jersey, produced by Ron Aniello, engineered by Rob Lebret and executive produced by Jon Landau. The release will mark Bruce Springsteen’s first studio album since 2020’s Letter To You, which debuted at #1 in eleven countries. Springsteen will reunite with the legendary E Street Band in February for his 2023 international tour, which to date has sold over 1.6million tickets across the United States and Europe.

I was also at those shows. This board has panned the backup singers multiple times when discussing those MSG shows. I thought it was quite good, especially since it helped them expand out All Night, Who You Are and WMA.
I’ll get back to this sometime next week, but without specifics, it is reminiscent of Western Stars in that he seems to really enjoy exploring these sounds that he grew up with. It doesn’t seem as essential as that album, but it’s still quite enjoyable.

Its definitely not as essential as Western Stars but still a fun listen.
I'm just loving how prolific he's been the last few years. I mean he's always been prolific but wouldnt have expected this at his age.
Those who have lived in his music and performances over the decades will immediately know this is a space Bruce is comfortable in. With the raw power of the E Street Band, Bruce has conjured multiple iterations of a Detroit Medley in concert, weaving in and out of classic Motown and soul with ferocity. Frankly, his cover of Quarter to Three from the No Nukes concert is not only the best cover I think I have ever heard, but easily in the pantheon of greatest live performances ever.
So then what’s up with this one? These are solid to very good covers with a good band and a Springsteen whose voice is just weathered enough to give heft to a collection of cover songs from the same era that range from classics to lost to the dustbin of pop’s past. They are good, but they don’t often break into the greatness Bruce typically treats these songs. For one, there’s too many of them. Cutting maybe 4 songs and 15 minutes off this would have worked wonders - there’s only so long my patience has for existing in this space, and even back then, albums rarely crossed the 40 minute mark because the world revolves around singles. The other issue is the band, which is admirably delivering beautiful renditions, but in the land previously occupied by E Street, these songs could have been pushed to their limit, and delivered with his explosiveness without losing their charm. Don’t get me wrong, I like this album, but a missed opportunity.
