I thought for sure we'd have an announcement by now. Maybe some of the E Streeters are a little trigger-shy with the whole Covid thing?

I feel like this is certainly part of it with the majority of the band now in their 70s. It has also been five years since the last tour and that is a long time off the road.

I heard something about them not wanting to perform with replacements. The Vedder shows and the Midnight Oil shows here show how tenuous it all is.

Neat. Unheard version of Born in the USA. Snippet played at some conference in mexico

Quote:
There are all kinds of stories about the different versions of classic songs that Bruce Springsteen recorded before settling on the ones that we know. Nebraska, for instance, was supposed to be a full, rockin’ E Street Band album, for instance, before Springsteen decided to release his spectral solo-acoustic demos instead. “Born In The USA,” by contrast, started out as a Nebraska-style stark acoustic song before becoming a stadium-shaking rocker. This past weekend, Toby Scott, Springsteen’s longtime recording engineer, played some snippets of those alternate-reality versions of Springsteen songs at a Mexican radio conference.

Video from Toby Scott’s presentation at this past weekend’s SoundCheck Xpo in Mexico City have been making the rounds among Springsteen fans for the past few days. During his 87-minute presentation, Scott played a few different takes of Springsteen recording “Born In The USA.” One of them was the solo-acoustic demo that Springsteen recorded in 1982, the Nebraska era. That version came out on Springsteen’s 1998 box set Tracks. But Scott also played a bit of a “Born In The USA” version that, as far as I know, is previously unheard — a bluesy and intense full-band take that’s nothing like the versions that we’ve already heard. You can hear a bit of that version in the video below, at the 23:49 mark.

So, US dates in February/March and then in the Fall? Will be curious to see where he plays.

Take my money!

As an aside, I did the Verified fan sale for MSG, both Long Island shows, and the Newark show. I cannot seem to register for the verified fan sale for Brooklyn, which is upsetting me

Have a feeling the late summer US leg will start with a heavy set of gigs at the Meadowlands.

I’d still prefer an arena setting. I saw Bruce at the old Giants Stadium in 2009 and while it was a special show (cover to cover rendition of Born in the USA included), the stadium just seemed so large and the band so far away. It also had to be compared with the show I saw at Nassau Coliseum a few months earlier where I was in GA in the very front - also was my first Springsteen show.

I believe I had prioritized it MSG, LI2, LI1, Newark - mostly due to convenience.

I have no doubt the Garden would be a fantastic stop, I enjoyed the arena shows I've seen.
I saw them at Giants Stadium in '08, which was before they opened up the whole floor for GA, so it was just a small area in front of the stage that was obviously packed but you'd turn around and just see an absolutely packed stadium; that was somethin'
Best of luck with the tix.

Hoping for the best. I can’t believe we haven’t really seen him since Springsteen on Broadway, which was very cool. Nothing like seeing him with the band though. I went in 2016 on The River tour, and I think that was his last with the band until next year. Crazy.

I did contemplate tickets for a second, the shows were always such a great time; my last was Hartford '12.

No Nashville, St. Louis, or Chicago. I bet that stretch is on the fall leg.

Not a Bruce guy however I stopped by to appreciate this straightforward thread title. No failed attempt at humor here. Just the facts.
