these guys are playing here on sunday and i'm tempted to go. lower bowl seats are like $400, though. ticketbastard says tix are 'dynamic pricing', and the stadium is hardly filled up, especially in the lower bowl/floor areas. anyone ever see if these types of tix actually do come down in price at all? if not, there's a ga section at the back of the floor for $150 that i could see talking myself into.

I say go. I keep regretting not seeing them.

Meanwhile, starting the day listening to the bonus songs on the reissue deluxe Tattoo You. So far, every one of them is fantastic. How can band have this great a vault that the b-sides from an album culled from prior sessions is phenomenal!? Love this band.

I took all the b-sides they released on the deluxe editions of Exile on Main Street, Some Girls, Goats Head Soup, and Tattoo You and threw them into a playlist so I could sit and take them in. They are as good if not better than many of the albums released even in the 70s. How is that even possible!?

The Stones had tons of songs and riffs laying around and they would record in such a way as to have a huge surplus of material. They would loosely record drums, bass and main guitars for piles of songs at a whim. To finish any of these, all that would need to be done is vocals and embellishments.

That is what was done for the original Tattoo You and all the bonus material on these deluxe sets.

The Stones originally wanted at least "Some Girls" to be a double LP (they recorded tons of material for that one), but at the time there was an oil crisis and pressing plants couldn't make vinyl easily, so record companies usually balked at the notion and would force bands to shrink albums down to a single LP.

On Tattoo You, I really liked Fiji Jim, Troubles A Comin’, Shame Shame Shame, the cover of Drift Away, It’s a Lie, Fast Talkin Slow Walkin, and the reggae version of Start Me Up. Living in the Heart of Love is a little goofy, but it’s still signature Stones.

I liked all three songs off the deluxe Goats Head Soup.

11/12 of the deluxe songs on Some Girls are fantastic. The only one I didn’t care for was We Had It All.

The Exile deluxe songs all great. They could have recorded a bag of farts during those sessions and it would have been the greatest blues fart song of all time.

"Come To The Ball" is my favorite track on the TY bonus disc. It's another Goats Head Soup outtake so it has that sick evil vibe.

Yeah, that’s also a good one. Sleazy and gritty is how I would describe that album’s vibe.

As much as I love Jimmy Page, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking is possibly the greatest riff ever.

I don’t know the full story behind the Tattoo You b-sides on the deluxe edition, but It’s a Lie references eBay. Confirms Mick and/or Keith are the inspiration for Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. They’ve known the virtues and challenges of ebay since at least 1981!

New vocals on about half of the unreleased songs on all the deluxe sets.

As I said before, they recorded piles of backing tracks that only need vocals and embellishments to complete.
