No idea Dave Gahan (DM) was close to Lanegan

Quote:
During that same session, Depeche Mode also covered the Gordon Lightfoot classic “Sundown.” In the interview portion of the show, Dave Gahan said that the late Mark Lanegan used to send him playlists of songs that he wanted to hear Gahan cover, and one of those songs was “Sundown.” That’s a great song, and it’s weirdly perfect for an orchestral Depeche Mode cover

I think Lanegan opened for DM… and Dave was the singer of Soulsavers after Lanegan gave up; so yeah I’m sure they had some kind of relation on those years

I just finished Sing Backwards And Weep.

I have read other addict memoirs and I am very skeptical about a lot of the content because if someone is so often high, blacked out, etc. how can they possibly remember all these details, conversations, etc.?

good point yeah, but the book tells only Mark´s side and he is always refferring to what he actually remembers.

He said in various interviews that kinda hated the experience because he had to unlock some very nasty moments of his past.

It was an entertaining read but I took everything with a gigantic grain of salt.

just because a person gets high or has black outs doesn't mean the full extent of his or her memory is completely gone.

Did I actually have to say that?

I read it too and I 100% believe what he wrote. What good would it do him to make up stories ? That doesn't make sense

More headlines and publicity, more book sales and people coming to the gigs which all means more money. And of course there's also the branding aspect.

wut?

Not only was he recounting things that allegedly happened while he was zombied out on ________ (insert substance here), but also these things were 30 years ago.

Generally accurate, sure. Details accurate? Meh.

Writers often write often. He could have been getting his content from 100s of journals.

He actually mentioned in interviews he wrote the whole book from memory and occasionally would call the people involved in the memories to confirm.

Oh, well then, I mean - if he had reliable sources like this, it changes everything.
