The board's server will undergo upgrade maintenance tonight, Nov 5, 2014, beginning approximately around 10 PM ET. Prepare for some possible down time during this process.
I actually think Lanegan's work with QOTSA is some of his least interesting/compelling output.
I definitely enjoy it and Queens in general. But even looking back and rocking out to the few live videos we have, that particular foray really put the focus on his stage presence and how it simply did not gel with that type of rock show IMO. Same could be said for the Trees live but clearly even less video of that.
His voice also gets taxed pretty quickly playing those heavy songs in front of those monster audiences. For as much as I enjoy listening I am glad he basically eschewed those particular live endeavors and settled in to the small venue, limited crew gigs.
I had tickets to see him in 2010 with Isobel Campbell and 2012 with his band, neither worked out and a will always regret that.

I spent a few hours this summer combing through spotify trying to identify every guest spot I could find. My comprehensive playlsit is 38 hours and 15 minutes long. fucker was prolific.
Sadly a bunch of those later collabs are just with artists who weren't very interesting, but there are still some gems

I started collecting everything I could off this list not too long before he passed.
Im about half-way through Prato's book, enjoying it thus far.

Appreciated but I don't happen to use any of the streaming services.

On first listen I enjoyed the first have quite a bit more than the second half. I liked it more whenever it leaned more into Alt-Country/Tom Waits than into "acoustic grunge". Sometimes his vocal delivery is very 90s/grunge, a bit like acoustic Alice In Chains maybe? That's the parts I don't enjoy that much.
