Just listened to Countdown to Ecstasy on the way home. New favorite song: King of the World. Fucking A. I listened to it at least 10 times.

I mean, yeah, but every song on that album is gold. I suppose King of the World is in the top half though.

Just learned the bass line. This song is the tits, sure enough.

I absolutely love this band. I'm on to Gaucho now.

This album has a special sound. The playing, the musicianship, the command of the instruments. Sounds just seem to float in and out of each other with a striking grace and control. I'm not sure I've ever heard anything quite like it.

"Third World Man" just floors me.

If Aja and Pretzel Logic are the only two SD records I know, where should I head next? Do they have a good rabbit-hole album? Something like The White Album/Tusk/Vitalogy?

Hot take: "Bodhisattva" is the most overrated SD song, and plays to almost none of their strengths.

I like the intro of it, but when it goes to the meat and potatoes of the song, I lose interest. Certainly not the best track on the album. (That would be King of the World, of course.)

Yeah, holy shit, what a song that is.

Just started spinning this. Kid Charlemagne is awesome. It's got a real Stevie Wonder vibe.

Caves of Altimara is interesting. Shades of Billy Joel, the O'Jays, Elton John, The Delfonics.

Don't Take Me Alive is a little silly, both musically and lyrically, but somehow I still like it.

Sign In Stranger was enjoyable from the very first notes.

The Fez and Green Stranger both sort of went by without much of anything happening. I might just be hitting my Steely Dan limit about halfway through this record.

Those are two of my favorite songs on the album.

These and Everything You Did are probably the least interesting moments on the record, imo. Everything You Did is the only one I don't really enjoy tho.
