A friend of mine had the HD video webcast of their show tonight. First night of their 3-day Magnaball festival in upstate NY. Haven't listened to them in years after having a heavy fandom period 1999-2002. I can honestly say that tonight was one of the best-played shows I've ever witnessed/heard. Just incredible & great fun. Bands aren't supposed to sound that good 30 years in to their career. Trey is so much better since he got sober.

Let's give this a try: what are some good Phish shows from 2002-2004 for someone who really likes Round Room? Thanx

it doesn't seem to get much love among fans, but i like the round room record a lot, too.

shows:
2/20/2003 http://phish.net/setlists/?d=2003-02-20
2/28/2003 http://phish.net/setlists/?d=2003-02-28

they don't ever really play album heavy shows, so these are the highest rated shows with the most round room songs in them (4 for 2/20 and 3 for 2/28). i have 2/28/03 and would definitely recommend it.

dunno if you like the song waves, but check out the version from the IT festival (this vid cuts off the end, unfortunately, but is the only one i could find quickly) and the bethel souncheck (2011).

they opened this year's summer tour in st. paul and played the song round room, one of my favorites on the album and a song they don't play much, so that was a particular highlight for myself. they played walls of the cave, too.

Thanks! I just really like the feel of that record and hope the shows from the period feel/sound similar. One other question: are the Kevorkian remasters worth getting over the original releases?

honestly can't say i'd heard of those. a quick search of .net gave me this thread, though, which would give me pause:

http://forum.phish.net/forum/show/1375210092

"The guy who remasters the phish SBDs - Kevorkian - is nicknamed Dr. Deaf. His "remasters" consist of making them EXTREMELY LOUD."

prob would want to do some research.

Another excellent weekend of Phish at the Gorge. Lots of highlights. Speaking of Round Room, night 1 set 1 this weekend closed with a badass Walls of the Cave. Highly recommended.

Came across this gem of a review while browsing live shows:

Quote:
What happened in the second set was the first time I ever was convinced I was Wilson. During that waves ambient jam I had numerous visions of my future. I somehow became able to sync up with Phish in a state of mind that made it seem IT was for the birth of a telepathic character Phish would communicate with and write songs about. This would explain the proximity to the "break up" announcement a few months later which made that era so short. The setlist at Coventry which "ended it all" with a wilson into slave to the traffic light just told me they would be back when they could deal with the fact that wilson was now at their shows and no longer just from the future.

I've been to 7 shows total, a few in Mass and the rest in Hartford. Every show I went to was great, Trey is a phenomenal guitarist possibly the best of the modern era (1990s-Present). I also own most of their studio albums and a handful of live albums. My fav studio album from them is Story of the Ghost. Great all around band. Also the 2014 Halloween Costume show was epic.

I've got those shows downloaded, will have to give them a listen.

I also went a little Phish-spree recently and have Rift, Junta, and Picture of Nectar on vinyl all coming in the mail in the next few weeks.
