Given the age of his audience, I'd expect there's a decent amount of parents of young kids at his shows. I wouldn't feel comfortable with the idea of locking away my phone in case there was some emergency, etc.
I think there's a designated area for that
I guess I'd need to know more about how it worked in practise but that still sounds like a bad idea.
Do you have to go to the foyer to have your pouch unlocked? That sounds really inconvenient for you and everyone around you.
How would a parent know if their partner or babysitter's texted them, how would you feel the vibration of the phone or notice the text message?
Do you have to just walk out to have it unlocked five times throughout the show, just in case?
It's dumb. Yeah, some people are jerks with their phones but this is a draconian way of managing it.
I think it's automatic. You feel the phone vibrate (or you see the notification), so you walk off to the designated area where it automatically unlocks.

That still seems really inconvenient to me.

But that's exactly the point. You hate Jack White. So of course you hate what he's doing.
I'd think this was really idiotic no matter who did it but there definitely is a schadenfreude-like element of satisfaction in it being Jack White.

I used to go to concerts where nobody at all, at all, had a cell phone. And nobody died because of it.
I swear to God, True story

The other night Neko had a really strict no camera/photo policy. They were kicking people out. It made the show very enjoyable without all those phones out

yeah, jack white's solo work does absolutely nothing for me
I don't hate his solo stuff but I don't love it like the ws
there are a few songs I dig, but overall, i much more dig WS, Raconteurs, and even the Dead Weather.
i feel like he benefits from working within the confines of other musicians. when he's on his own, he seems to get lost in his own creativity. being in a band kind of reigns him in, gives him some structure, and lets him explore within those boundaries.
I still love his Blunderbuss record, though. Solid album. But I think his cover of Love is Blindness is probably the last thing he did that really captured me and blew me away.

Who does he think he is charging $30 more than what I just paid for a David Byrne ticket? If this wasn’t so close to that show I’d maybe consider going.

Wow I hadn't even looked at his ticket prices. Not considering going bc the venue he's playing in Seattle is a POS and kills the vibe of a show, but lol that's insane

Where is he playing?
Wamu Theater between Centurylink and Safeco
he played there last time too. it's a horrible venue where they have home and boat shows and all that crap. i wouldn't even call it a venue. the worst acoustics.
