Yah I have no issues with their musical output. I love all the albums.

This... and regarding their live shows, I think during the SWB tour, when I saw them at RR the bass drum was way too overpowering and it made everything else sound terrible. That may have been a one night tech issue, or it could have been the venue. Despite everyone's (appropriate) love for Red Rocks, the sound is extremely variable. On a still night, it could be the most perfect sound, but when the wind circulates through there, the sound can be very bad.

Many bands stick to standard setlists, and I don't have a problem with that. Not everyone is Eddie and the PJs, with a grab bag of unrehearsed, poor quality versions of different rarities each night.

i've been criticizing the band for years for not shaking their setlists up, particularly their encores. hell, i think i posted a couple of times in this thread going some time back. but that has nothing to do with, nor is it a reflection of, the quality of their studio efforts, which i would hardly characterize as stagnant or uninspired.

Agreed. The newest album is amazing. Their lack of setlist diversity, not so much.

A great (and very exhaustive) look into the making of the new album. I know it got brought up in the marketing, but they made this album in a very unique way, from why and how they introduced new vocalists to how the band interacted w/ Mike Mills. It's not really something they can ever repeat, but this has become my favorite record of theirs behind Boxer/Alligator.

On April 22, 2019, we took the stage at NYC’s famed Beacon Theatre for “A Special Evening With The National,” one of a series of five unique sold-out events in Paris, London, New York, Toronto and Los Angeles where we performed songs from our new album and Mike Mills-directed short film I Am Easy To Find starring Alicia Vikander.

Now we are thrilled to announce the release of The National: I Am Easy To Find, Live From New York’s Beacon Theatre via @AmazonPrime Video and The National: Live From New York’s Beacon Theatre (#AmazonOriginal) EP via @AmazonMusic. Both the film and digital EP will be available this Friday, August 23rd.

This concert documentary includes a complete performance of the album, special only to the Beacon show, with guest appearances from the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Julien Baker, Kate Stables of This Is The Kit and Mina Tindle.

The Beacon Theatre movie is outstanding, with excellent, balanced sound (which can sometimes be a problem for the band on web streams).
